Conservatives In Congress Want To Ban Same-Sex Marriage, And They Are Wrong To Think This Will Protect Marriage

By Scott McLean

Half-truths and spin are politics as usual. We deserve much better.

While we cannot blame hair loss, upset stomach or nervous jitters strictly on what politicians do (or don't do), they deserve their share of blame for problems they are causing.

Conservatives in Congress and many religious conservatives in America want a constitutional amendment which by their rhetoric sounds like they want to protect marriage and families, when their real goal is to ban same-sex marriage.

Marriage and families are threatened by many things, but not by gays and lesbians wanting to be married.

Financial problems and partners not being a good match cause problems for marriages.

If politicians want to do something positive to protect marriage, they should create a new program to provide counseling to all young couples before they get married. That would reduce the number of divorces and improve relationships.

Don't Want To Write That Name

Blogs Help Us Learn About People Everywhere

Tonight I'm up blogging, although my goal in recent days has been to read more blogs. It's interesting to learn about other countries.

I've traveled to Thailand, Philippines and Ukraine in recent years, and those were great experiences for me.

My interest in people and the planet are the reason why I started this blog. As I commented yesterday, we can really make a difference in the world in our own way. That's the type of positive change Planet News Views is all about.

I wish you the best in your blogging and in life.

Kindness Makes Blogging Fun

While blogging in the wee hours, I'm typically nibbling on cookies or sipping a soda. Sweets keep me going when I'm tired. However, kindness of people is the what makes blogging fun.

When nothing seems to be going right, a smile, a pat on the back or a few nice words can really make a difference to a weary writer.

One of the best feelings as a writer is to get to know other writers in different countries, and give each other supportive comments to keep us blogging... and enjoying it.

Kindness makes the stuggles in life not so frustrating and the successes all the more satisfying. Thank you for your kind comments.
